LUPETTO TOCCATORE, o CANE LUPO APPENNINICO.
This breed is very ancient, and it started many centuries ago as a wolf-dog crossbreed. The F1 were considered too wild, the shepherds mantained just males, chained, and then they crossed with other mutt-like wolfish small farm dogs (proto-dog size and shape) that they used to move the flock. They took for them all the F2 that were able to work and wolf like shape. Nowadays we cross, sometimes, with border collies, rustic ancient line of Belgian and German shepherd still maintaining the wolf like shape. Someone rarely still cross with the wolf, in the mountains of Abruzzo.
They are very healthy, agile, team workers, and fertile. Smarter than any other breed I ve ever had.
