“Mrs. H. Earl Hoover was one of the wealthy individuals who established a kennel on a grand scale in the 1920s. This photo of her is from 1922, when she was at the beginning of her career as a successful breeder and exhibitor of Chow Chows under the Manchoover prefix. With her is Victorious of Tsen Hia (to the left in the picture), who cannot have been much more than a year old at the time of the photo (I'm pretty sure he became a champion later) and Ch. Lu Cheng.
The ad text says that Mrs. Hoover (of the vacuum cleaner fortune) had just imported a few dogs from England: A few years later she was winning Best in Show with the famous Ch. Choonam Brilliantine of Manchoover.”

niet alleen de snuitlengte, je kunt bij deze honden ook gewoon ogen zien, die vallen niet weg in de rimpel- en plooienmassa. Die sneue beesten zoals ze later werden gefokt zouden in die tijd zijn weggelachen, en terecht.
